Wonolo (Work Now Locally) is disrupting the $140BN temporary staffing industry. Founded in 2014, Wonolo's mission is to help people find consistent work. Through our two-sided tech marketplace, we connect hundreds of businesses in need of front-line workers with 2 million underemployed workers in local markets across the United States, within minutes. Wonolo has raised over $200M in funding which will continue to help us empower the in-demand workforce by democratizing access to flexible work, opportunities to learn new skills, a living wage, and comprehensive portable benefits and perks.

We're looking for a motivated Recruiting Operations Specialist to join the Central Operations team. This role blends hands-on recruiting expertise with day-to-day, customer and worker-facing operations. You'll source, screen, and onboard workers across all classifications while also serving as a local point of contact for customers and Wonoloers where you will resolve issues quickly, build meaningful relationships, and improve the processes that support every placement and shift. This is a hybrid role with some travel to customer sites, and local hiring events are expected, alongside remote recruiting and operations work.

This role will work Monday–Friday during business hours, though early mornings and evenings may be required during peak periods.

We welcome qualified candidates located in the Boston area and willing to travel within the market.

What you'll do:

  • Bring expert-level knowledge of outbound recruiting strategies, screening practices, and onboarding experiences to place and retain workers.
  • Source and attract candidates through outbound recruiting platforms, existing worker pools, and hiring events; schedule and conduct interviews to assess relevant knowledge, skills, and aptitude, running experiments to determine effectiveness and maintaining organized notes and SOPs.
  • Develop and maintain job descriptions and specifications so the Recruiting Team is well-equipped for interviews and workers receive an accurate picture of the role and expectations.
  • Support both Wonolo app and W-2 onboarding processes, working closely with the W-2 Onboarding team to minimize idle time between screening and placement.
  • Serve as a local point of contact for customers and workers, monitoring performance of placed candidates and responding quickly to day-of or last-minute issues (no-shows, worker concerns) with fast, effective solutions.
  • Travel to Wonolo customer locations (e.g., warehouse or production facilities) to build influential candidate and customer relationships and coordinate with the local Market Team on Wonoloers' on-site experience.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement across recruiting and worker operations, and track metrics (e.g., application-to-interview, interview-to-placed, market performance) to gauge efficiency and inform strategic decisions.
  • Partner with Central Operations, Marketing, Product, and regional Market/Sales teams to align on broader strategic initiatives.

Who you are:

  • Proven work experience as a recruiter (in-house or staffing agency) and/or 1+ years of experience in staffing, consulting, or operations.
  • Solid ability to conduct different types of interviews (structured, competency-based, video, phone, reference checks, etc.).
  • Familiarity with HR databases, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and Candidate Management Systems (CMS).
  • Proven experience building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient at interpreting data, identifying trends, and using insights to make informed decisions and solve problems.
  • Comfortable planning, executing, and monitoring projects in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with minimal guidance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual ability in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel within the Boston area.

If you have read up to this point, we hope you are excited about this opportunity to work at Wonolo! Even if your experience does not check every bullet point, we still highly encourage you to apply. The best hires do not always check off every box of a job description.

Nice to haves:
