The Business Office Associate is responsible for processing and filing paperwork with the appropriate state and county municipalities to establish or transfer the ownership of a motor vehicle. The Business Office Associate will ensure the accuracy and efficiency of processing vehicle titles by verifying title information is correct which includes maintaining knowledge of current laws regarding vehicle titles, and interacting with customers and regulatory agencies to resolve title issues.

The Associate is responsible for assisting customers through the paperwork process associated with vehicle sales and supporting the functions of all store departments. By assuming responsibility and accountability, the Associate ensures that our customer’s experience with Shift exceeds their expectations.

What You Will Do:

  • Processes vehicle titles with precision and accuracy.
  • Understands and follows corresponding state titles processing guidelines.
  • Responds to customer inquiries via email, texts and phone requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provides customer service by greeting customers and guiding them through the paperwork process.
  • Verifies legal transfer of documents for the Department of Motor Vehicles for all states.
  • Completes administrative tasks to support all store departments.
  • Issues payments for vehicles acquired.
  • Manages daily deposits that include Brink pick-ups.
  • Prepares outgoing FedEx and USPS shipments.

What You Will Bring:

  • The ability to be able to work evenings and weekends. Our office is open Monday to Saturday 10 - 8pm and Sunday 11 - 7pm.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
  • A keen eye for detail; thoroughness is critical.
  • Customer facing experience with a high level of professionalism.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in all forms of communication including email, text and in-person.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales agreements, tax and title documents, and procedure manuals.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous automotive dealership experience in a similar role; deep understanding of all aspects of finance and paperwork related to delivering vehicles to customers.
  • Experience using DMV processing services (Dealertrack, DMVdesk, etc).
  • Understanding of DMV laws, regulations, processes, and forms necessary to facilitate vehicle transactions.
  • Experience with DMV titling and preparing documents.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Hubspot.
