Our sustainability strategy aims to enhance various aspects of the agriculture industry including soil, air, water, and land management, biodiversity restoration and reforestation, human rights, and diversity, gender, equity, and inclusion elements of the agriculture industry. We rigorously assess all our investments for compliance with the International Finance Corporation’s Sustainability Performance Standards. Additionally, we are pioneering a carbon offset methodology for Mexico’s agriculture sector and constantly improving the efficiency of the supply chain to reduce food waste. The ESG Associate will play a pivotal in achieving ProducePay’s ESG and sustainability goals, particularly in managing our Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) and collaborating across the organization for its success.

The ESG Associate oversees client due diligence, data management, analytics, and reportingProducePay’s ESMS. The primary focus is gathering ESG data for client investment decisions. You will also collect operational data, perform analyses, and compile information for internal and external reporting, indulging board reporting. The role involves responding to inquiries from the Board, investors, clients, and rating surveys, while also assisting with internal communications and engagement.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct potential client due diligence according to the company’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS)
  • Conduct detailed client pre-screening for compliance with International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards (PS’s)
  • Provide expert Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) geo-spacial analysis and reporting on client project geographical coordinates (QGIS, ArcGIS, Global Forest Watch, Google Earth Pro, Aqueduct and others)
  • Environmental and Social risks identification in the areas in which ProducePay operates
  • Information capture in Geographic Information Systems
  • Analysis of cartographic information
  • Preparation of analysis plans

Other Responsibilities:

  • Collect enterprise-wide ESG data and supporting documentation for external and internal reporting needs, and to support development of ESG priorities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners across the organization to maintain database of key data inputs needed for external reporting, stakeholder requests and senior leadership and Board engagement
  • Manage the completion of stakeholder and rating/ranking surveys
  • Develops templates, standardized reports, and scorecards for management purposes, and for external and internal reporting
  • Informs the development of a new data collection platform which will help to streamline and automate the data collection process
  • Supports the completion of the annual Impact Report
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Education discipline in Geography, Geologist, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Data Analytics, or Statistics preferred
  • Background and understanding of sustainability a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required
  • Must have strong analytical skills and excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel; must be proficient in QGIS software
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, and extremely detail-oriented
  • Naturally a self-starter and results-oriented
  • A background and understanding of the International Finance Corporation’s Sustainability Performance Standards is a plus
  • Experience working in the agricultural industry is a plus
  • Experience working in Latin America is a plus
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Must be willing to travel at least 10% of the time
