Job Description:
The LSI’s Senior Sales & Business Development Manager, Laser Products, will be part of a team in a hybrid role that will seek to develop to not only business for the current portfolio of laser products but lead in the development of LSI’s laser products into new markets and applications - modules, and subsystems. The new BD team member will work collaboratively with other members of the LSI organization and will be responsible for driving revenue growth through the expansion of existing laser products business across the group as well as developing new customers and markets. This individual will also guide the development of innovative new products leveraging LSI’s unique technologies and core capabilities in optoelectronic devices. They will provide a critical interface to LSI customers, overseeing the full cycle of customer engagement, and work to build and maintain a robust pipeline of business opportunities leading to design wins for long-term sales.
Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market presence
· Identify and pursue new photonics business opportunities in aerospace and defense, optical sensing and instrumentation and other markets, leveraging existing industry knowledge and networks
· Work with customers to architect solutions using company products or technology
· Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, define customer needs, and analyze the competitive landscape
· Coordinate with the business development and product development teams and the overall business development activities at LSI
· Manage and expand relationships with key accounts, focusing on cultivating long-term partnerships and driving customer satisfaction
· Drive the entire sales cycle, from lead generation to closing deals, ensuring effective communication and negotiation throughout the cycle
· With the support of the BD team, build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients, consistently updating and tracking sales activities
· Provide accurate sales forecasts for long-term planning
· Act as a trusted advisor to customers, understanding their business challenges and providing tailored solutions that help them meet their objectives
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field
· Proven track record of at least a decade of successful business management and sales experience
· Extensive experience in overseeing account management and strategic selling of photonics products in defense, and commercial markets
· Strong knowledge and expertise in diversified products, particularly photonics and optoelectronics components based on lasers and photonic integrated circuits
· Excellent relationship building and negotiations skills
· Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
· Results-oriented mindset with a passion for achieving and exceeding sales targets
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop strategic technical and business solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
· Advanced degree such as a Ph.D in photonics or related field or equivalent
· Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships internally and externally, with a focus on customer satisfaction and driving business growth
· Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
· Operational experience in a business focused on semiconductor lasers
· Experience in the defense industry and familiarity with related regulations and compliance standards

At Luminar, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays a base between $150,000 and $200,000* per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity in the form of restricted stock unit awards, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, 401k plan, life and disability benefits, flexible time off, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement for formal education related to advancing your career at Luminar. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire and schedule type.
