Responsibilities

  • The Director of Commodity Management will be responsible for leading the commodity team of production purchasing commodities including Electronics, Mechanicals, Optics, Lazer, and consumables
  • Provide strategic directions and guidelines to achieve the best performance from supply partners
  • Support and train global commodity team members in developing and executing sourcing strategies for Luminar
  • Lead commercial relationship with the Contract Manufacturing partners.
  • Ensure compliance and governance by improving processes and procedures
  • Ensure timely and effective actions to comply with project sourcing requirements
  • Develop commodity KPIs, goals and objectives, report out to the management
  • Act as escalation point for the global commodity team
  • Act as business engagement leader by working closely with the cross functional team to identify business needs and requirements, align commodity strategies, improve value add and competitive advantage
  • Ensure achieving corporate and department performance targets
  • Support developing high level negotiation strategies with supply base relationship management
  • Escalation for supplier contract execution, supplier scorecards, supply risk & other supplier management functions
  • Implement procurement policies with suppliers to ensure flexibility and minimize working capital requirements
  • Assess ongoing performance of supply base and drive effective performance improvement
  • Handle other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Automotive Procurement
  • Minimum of 8 years sourcing experience, especially in BCC (Best Cost Country)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience developing & executing commodity strategies, and evidence of being able to effectively communicate those plans to all levels of the organization
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Contract Manufacturing relationship management
  • Strong understanding of Supplier & Project Management
  • Strong experience in Relationship & Change Management
  • Demonstrated cross-functional team leadership
  • Ability to drive aggressive implementation plans and schedules
  • Must be able to problem solve and handle multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong background and ability in administration of contracts
  • Strong analytical, research and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level
  • Experience with MS Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering fields

Preferred Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Prior experience leading teams, including cross-functional teams
  • Global experience, especially AP, EU and Mexico
  • Ability to read, and comprehend technical documents (drawings, specs, engineering changes, etc)
