Overview

The incoming quality inspector is the first line of defense in verifying incoming parts from external providers for quality before they are released to the manufacturing floor. This is achieved by comparing the parts to the drawings and understanding the features to be inspected to assure the parts meet the
intended requirements. The position reports to the Supplier Quality Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews incoming materials for conformity to drawing via AQL
  • Reviews accompanying documents, whether as engineering samples or Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) samples
  • Inspects parts mechanically or visually according to drawing and complying to Geometric Dimensions & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements
  • Accepts or rejects materials, communicates outcome internally and externally, as applicable, and logs results on Enterprise Requirements Planning (ERP) system
  • Collaborates with SQE and SQM for inspection priorities
  • Reviews parts according to plan with focus on special characteristics
  • Tags and segregates non-conforming material per procedure

Other Characteristics of Position

  • Knowledgeable in achieving the part feature data by using the adequate measurement method.
  • Has the ability to capture results in tabular form for meeting of specifications and statistical form for capability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma
  • 5 years of experience inspecting electrical, mechanical, and optical components

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical college with an electrical or mechanical focus
  • Understanding on drawings and GD&T
  • Familiar with MIL standard for AQL
  • Experience using measurement tools and visual acceptance standards
  • Computer literacy on MS Office and Google
  • Understanding of Automotive Industry Action Group and Production Part Approval Process (AIAG) and PPAP requirements
  • Experienced in using MicroVu for measurements and inspections
  • IPC-A-610 certified
  • Experience using CMM
  • Experience with capability studies
  • Experience with MiniTab

At Luminar, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays a base between $23 and $32 per hour. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity in the form of restricted stock unit awards, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, 401k plan, life and disability benefits, flexible time off, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement for formal education related to advancing your career at Luminar.
