Luminar Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (C++) to implement and test efficient algorithms for advanced driver assistance functions such as emergency braking and highway assist. Our vision is to make autonomous transportation safe and ubiquitous. Far too many lives are lost in vehicle accidents each year. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop real-time algorithms for trajectory planning and vehicle control
  • Design and develop real-time algorithms situation interpretation, collision avoidance, etc.
  • Design and develop state machines and function logic for AEB or HWA
  • Contribute to an AD L4 ready software and system architecture
  • Work with LiDAR perception team to help define requirements on sensor performance, and metrics for sensor and algorithmic performance
  • Integrate and apply Luminar’s AD Platform stack to newly-built test vehicles (passenger cars and trucks)
  • Analyze, optimize, and tune the performance of your software stack
  • Contribute to the software development tool environment as well as continuous integration and deployment
  • Ensure the highest software quality for our products

Minimum Qualifications

  • Production level programming knowledge especially using modern C++
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of industry experience, or relevant work experience with an MS
  • Experience in ADAS or AD function development or similar areas
  • Experience with software optimization on CPU’s or GPU’s
  • Extensive experience developing production quality software in a Linux environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with unit testing, integration testing, CI/CD, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Enjoy working within a dynamic and continuously evolving environment
  • Able to work in cross-functional teams across organizational/geographical boundaries
  • Experience developing advanced driver assistance or autonomous driving systems or similar systems such as robotic systems
  • Show out-of-box thinking and invent creative solutions for challenging problems
  • Familiarity working on Agile teams and within frameworks such as SAFe
  • Experience with designing and developing software in accordance with quality, functional safety and security standards (ASPICE, ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, SOTIF)
