Impact In This Role

Fictiv is developing the premier platform for on demand manufacturing and our customers demand an increasingly sophisticated level of support and advice as they bring their products to market. As the Senior Technical Applications Engineer you will serve as a technical subject matter expert supporting our sales team and advising customers to ensure their long-term success.
Your strong knowledge of product development, engineering and manufacturing processes will allow you to advise Fictiv clients throughout their product lifecycle. By working closely with Account Executives, you will give customers utmost confidence in Fictiv’s ability to deliver business value as a next generation manufacturing partner. You will work closely with sales to understand customer project requirements - this understanding will allow you to provide valuable suggestions and input on how to improve their designs, manage complex production schedules, hit budget targets, and achieve business
objectives. By playing a critical role in the success of our customer’s product development you’ll help Fictiv transform the manufacturing industry and allow more world changing, innovative new products to successfully come to market.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Combine deep technical subject matter expertise (SME) in engineering and manufacturing with keen business acumen to guide current and prospective Fictiv customers through their product development processes
  • Meet with customers to identify process and design challenges and recommend solutions which Fictiv is uniquely positioned to address
  • Provide consultative guidance on manufacturing readiness, bill of material optimization, project management and engineering guidance to help ensure long-term success for Fictiv customers
  • Create & deliver training, webinars, and instructional content for live and online audiences
  • Collaborate with internal Fictiv teams to provide feedback on customer requirements

Desired traits

  • 5+ years’ experience as a manufacturing engineer, mechanical engineer, tooling/plastics engineer, or applications/sales engineer
  • BS/BA degree in industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering or related work experience
  • 2+ years of customer-facing experience with proven ability to lead complex, consultative technical sales engagements
  • Experience with common CAD platforms like SolidWorks, CATIA, Nx, Onshape, Solid Edge, Inventor, or Fusion 360
  • Unparalleled verbal and written communication skills
  • BONUS: Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing facility

Salary Range: $100,000 to $140,000 per year, depending on experience
