You’ll be joining a close-knit team, working with experts in 3D geometry, web technologies, cloud infrastructure, firmware, and everything in between. We’ve had fun team activities where we escape rooms (real and virtual), play games, do archery, and cook delicious food. We also have a variety of employee-started communities at Carbon: baking, running, yoga, gaming, employee resource groups, and many more that you can participate in, and maybe even start your own! As a Staff Fullstack Engineer, you’ll equip our customers with the tools to innovate and fabricate products across a variety of industries. You will help build applications that enable users to design, visualize, manipulate, and print digital models, as well as empower factories through automation to churn out tens of thousands of parts a day.

This role is based in our Redwood City, California office and requires a hybrid at home/in office engagement (3 days a week in the office).

You will...

  • Build complex web applications using modern Javascript frameworks, including React.js, Node.js, and GRPC, that help users design and print 3D digital models
  • Push the limits of browser performance to provide a great user experience. We render and process 3D models with millions of triangles using WebAssembly
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, product management, and designers to build user interfaces that delight our customers
  • Own and drive projects end-to-end and influence technology and architectural decisions
  • Mentor, educate, and support those around you, as well as be able to grow as a person and leader

You have...

  • Expert knowledge of JavaScript (We use TypeScript)
  • Strong experience with HTTP, HTML, CSS and web security concepts
  • Experience with a modern front-end framework (React, Angular, Vue, etc) -- we use React
  • Experience with backend technologies such as Node.js and NestJS.
  • Experience and passion in building beautiful and complex web applications
  • Experience with the JavaScript unit testing frameworks
  • Strong communication, debugging, and problem solving skills

Nice to have...

  • Experience using Javascript typing languages/linters (Typescript, ESLint)
  • Familiarity with build systems like Webpack and Bazel
  • Experience with Three.js and graphics
  • Worked with other languages we use (C++, python)

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining salary. The compensation bracket for this position is $170,000 - $250,000 (per hour or per year). In order to maintain equitable internal pay practices, we aim to hire new employees near the midpoint of $220,000, taking into account your experience, work location, certifications, and the unique skills you bring to the role. If you are not based in our Redwood City office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical differential associated with your actual work location.
