About the Role
Carbon is looking for a dynamic and skilled individual to take on the role of Senior Employee Experience & Internal Communications Partner. As a crucial member of our People Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing internal communications strategies, fostering a positive and engaging employee experience, and supporting programs that contribute to our amazing and inclusive work culture. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align our workforce, strengthen employee engagement, and enhance our internal communication with employees.
This is an individual contributor level role and is based in our Redwood City, CA office.
You will...
- Employee Engagement and Experience:
- Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement initiatives that elevate the employee experience and promote a positive and inclusive company culture.
- Develop and execute programs that recognize and celebrate employee achievements, milestones, and special events.
- Conduct surveys and feedback mechanisms to gauge employee satisfaction, identify areas of improvement, and implement actionable solutions.
- Plan and execute quarterly company-wide events for global onsite, hybrid, and remote employees.
- Foster our Carbon Community by creating opportunities for regular interaction and encouraging employee participation in communication channels.
- Support Carbon's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) in their efforts and initiatives, enabling employees to learn, grow, and drive our inclusive culture.
- Enhance our social impact program, Carbon Cares, by identifying ways employees can give back to the community and establishing relationships with organizations to facilitate volunteer events.
- Manage vendor relationships for internal swag and company events, while coordinating efforts with internal teams such as Facilities and Marketing.
- Evaluate results against our goals, deliver executive summaries, and drive continuous improvements related to communications, swag, and engagement.
- Collaborate with other People Team stakeholders to provide resources and materials that support their programs and ensure alignment with People Team initiatives.
- Internal Communications Strategy:
- Create and deliver consistent and impactful internal communications campaigns, messages, and materials to keep employees informed and engaged.
- Ensure all internal communications are clear, concise, and tailored to different audiences within the organization.
- Utilize various channels, including email, intranet, newsletters, town halls, and social media, to deliver effective communication and drive employee engagement.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create employee-specific social content.
- Manage the team's calendar of upcoming announcements to ensure coordination across the organization.
- In conjunction with People Team Leadership, create communications around total rewards, DEI and compensation communications.
- Foster communication and interactions amongst the wider employee base within Carbon
You have...
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, human resources, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in internal communications, employee engagement, or related roles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to drive innovative internal communications initiatives.
- Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of best practices in employee engagement, change management, and organizational culture.
- Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with experience leading end-to-end program management and large-scale efforts across multiple functions, departments, and offices.
- Ability and excitement to work through unique challenges related to startup mentalities - often iterating, sometimes pivoting, but always executing.
- Capable of scoping projects despite ambiguity and recommending employee experience strategies that align with our culture.
- A strong team player with a willingness to jump in where needed - you’ll roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty on a number of different collaborative projects.
