Our product is the intersection of hardware, software, and molecular science. Our mission is simple: to change how products are produced and allow our customers to make the un-makeable. From high-volume shoe midsoles, patient-specific medical devices, to on-demand spare part production, we enable creation in ways that were previously impossible.
We are a team of passionate entrepreneurs, engineers, programmers, and materials scientists who value creativity and the ability to get things done. Carbon operates in a complex business environment that includes a global customer and vendor base, a product portfolio across software, chemicals, hardware, and accessories, and the ambition to scale new technology in mass production and manufacturing. To support our growth strategy, we are looking to hire a Strategic Sourcing Manager.
This role will report to Carbon’s Director of Strategic Sourcing.

You will...

  • Responsible for developing and executing short and long-term sourcing strategies to mitigate single and sole source risks to supply continuity, quality and cost for Optics, Opto-Mechanical, PCBA and other Electrical commodities.

  • Establish and manage strategic supplier relationships at the executive level, including holding regular business reviews.
  • Lead NPI engagement from the sourcing organization with the Carbon Engineering and Product teams.

  • Ensure optimal contract coverage in partnership with engineering and legal support.
  • Challenge suppliers and the internal development team to identify and implement innovative designs, value-add specification changes, concepts, and materials.
  • Proactively engage with engineering and finance stakeholders to refine and execute on the Carbon’s business and technology roadmap.

You have...

  • BS/MS in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field. APICS Certification, CPIM valued.
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience in strategic sourcing or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, contracting, communication (verbal & written), influence and leadership skills.
  • Proven skills to develop and implement sourcing and negotiation strategies.
  • Ability to think strategically (business processes, industry dynamics, short & long-term impacts, supplier capabilities and manufacturing practices, general market conditions, etc.)
  • Ability to perform financial analysis (i.e., supplier capital projects, ROI, NPV, financial status, make vs. buy, lease vs. buy, etc.)
  • Ability to work with various levels (CEO to customer service) of supplier and internal customer management.
  • Proficiency working with spreadsheets, data analytics, along with the ability to communicate results both verbally and in writing.
  • Be self-directed, organized, and able to manage multiple projects at a time.
