The Role
We’re looking for a Utility Asset Specialist to help build the next generation of asset intelligence for the electric utility industry. This position bridges deep field knowledge with data modeling - translating decades of construction practice into digital representations that power automation, inspection, and predictive analytics. In this role, you'll leverage your expertise in electric distribution and transmission infrastructure - poles, crossarms, conductors, transformers, and associated hardware - to establish standards, label assets accurately, and assess their condition. This role is ideal for a current or former lineman, inspector, or field engineer ready to bring their practical knowledge into a fast-moving technology environment.
How you'll make an impact:
- Asset Labeling & Modeling: Identify, classify, and standardize components in electric distribution and transmission systems using internal modeling tools
- Field Visits: Independent and customer-facing validation of client assets and model outputs. Requires knowledge of wide-ranging equipment and construction standards across the industry to ensure high fidelity in digital asset models
- Condition Assessment: Rapidly assess and categorize asset condition (e.g., decay, corrosion, clearance, tilt) to support QA, analytics, and training datasets
- Documentation & Training: Develop clear, repeatable processes and documentation to train internal teams on asset identification, nomenclature, and condition coding
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Data Science, and Field Services to refine classification logic and improve modeling accuracy
- Continuous Improvement: Identify recurring issues and propose improvements in labeling standards, tools, and workflows
- Support Asset Management Strategy: Bring expertise on type of asset conditions that are critical for managing wildfire, storm, public safety and reliability risks on the system

- Familiarity with RUS standards, joint-use attachments, and inspection QA/QC
- Experience reading and interpreting pole assembly diagrams or GIS/inspection data systems
- Skills:
- Strong visual identification and pattern recognition skills
- Excellent documentation and communication abilities
- Comfortable using software such as Microsoft Office, GIS or mapping systems, inspection software
Preferred Qualifications
- Drone, infrared, or LiDAR inspection experience
- Background in training, standards documentation, or root cause analysis
What you'll love:
