The Role

As we accelerate our growth across the utilities sector, we're looking for a Director of Engineering to lead the architecture, development, and delivery of AiDASH’s next-generation solutions that enable utilities to inspect, monitor, and maintain critical infrastructure at scale. In this strategic leadership role, you’ll own engineering for AIMS (Asset Inspection & Monitoring System), an early-stage product, and drive the continued evolution of our flagship IVMS (Intelligent Vegetation Management System) - advancing both toward a unified, AI-driven Grid Inspection Platform that reimagines how utilities inspect and manage their networks.

This is an opportunity to define the technical vision and execution strategy for the products that power the future of utility operations - where AI, machine learning, and satellite data converge to deliver predictive insights and operational excellence. In this role, you’ll ensure our systems are designed for performance, scalability, and security, while fostering a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and accountability.

Reporting to the Co-Founder and Chief Product & Technology Officer, you’ll lead a high-performing engineering team and collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and Design leaders to translate ambitious ideas into robust, production-ready solutions. You’ll also work with customers and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure our technology roadmap aligns with evolving business priorities and industry demands.

Why This Role Matters Now

The utility industry is undergoing a once-in-a-generation digital transformation, and engineering sits at the heart of it:

  • AI at scale: Building systems that can process petabytes of satellite data, train and deploy complex AI models, and deliver real-time, actionable insights to utilities across geographies.
  • Platform unification: Evolving multiple products into a cohesive, intelligent Grid Inspection Platform that delivers performance, extensibility, and reliability at enterprise scale.
  • Reliability and resilience: Engineering solutions that are robust, secure, and always on, helping utilities strengthen grid reliability and mitigate the growing risks of climate-driven disruptions.

This is your opportunity to join our engineering leadership team, and drive the vision behind AiDASH’s grid intelligence products - translating advances in AI and satellite data into scalable systems that strengthen global infrastructure resilience.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Architect the Future of Utility Software: Define and drive the engineering strategy and technical roadmap for AiDASH’s AIMS and IVMS products; ensuring scalability, security, and innovation are at the core of every system
  • Build the Next-Gen Grid Platform: Lead engineering execution for AIMS and IVMS, integrating AI/ML and satellite data into products that enable predictive maintenance and grid reliability at scale
  • Inspire and Scale Teams: Build, mentor, and empower high-performings engineering teams that combine deep technical expertise with a mission-driven mindset
  • Bridge Vision and Execution: Partner closely with Product, Data Science, and Design to translate strategic goals into actionable engineering outcomes, balancing innovation with delivery excellence
  • Champion Modern Engineering Practices: Drive best-in-class DevOps, CI/CD, cloud-native development, and microservices architecture to ensure speed, quality, and efficiency
  • Enable Customer Impact: Work directly with customers and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure our technology delivers tangible, measurable value and enterprise-grade reliability
  • Lead by Example: Stay close to technology — guiding architectural decisions, making critical trade-offs, and fostering a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and innovation
  • Represent AiDASH Engineering: Collaborate with other engineering and product leaders to showcase AiDASH’s innovation and thought leadership in customer and industry forums

What we’re looking for:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Engineering Leadership Experience: 12+ years of overall software development experience, including at least 5 years in senior engineering leadership roles building and scaling enterprise SaaS products
  • Builder’s Mindset: Proven record of leading large-scale, distributed engineering teams to deliver complex products from concept to launch in dynamic, fast-paced environments
  • Technical Expertise: Deep experience in SaaS, multi-tenant architectures, cloud-native applications, microservices, and Kubernetes; strong command of AWS
  • Execution Excellence: A hands-on leader who drives clarity, prioritization, and technical rigor - ensuring timely delivery and operational reliability
  • Collaborative Leadership: Exceptional ability to partner across Product, Data Science, and Design to align on vision, trade-offs, and execution
  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Domain Expertise: Experience working in or building solutions for utilities, energy, or infrastructure domains, particularly around asset management or grid operations
  • Technical Depth: Familiarity with AI/ML-driven applications, geospatial data, or satellite imagery-based systems
  • DevOps & Automation: Strong background in CI/CD, cloud infrastructure optimization, and security-first engineering practices
  • Strategic Influence: Demonstrated ability to set long-term technical direction, manage complex stakeholder expectations, and communicate technical vision to executives
  • Continuous Learning: Advanced degrees, technical certifications, or open-source contributions that reflect ongoing growth and thought leadership

What you'll love:

  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage: 100% coverage for employees and 80% for their spouses and children
  • Health Reimbursement Account (HRA): 100% funded by AiDASH to cover medical deductibles
  • 401(k) Plan: Begin contributing after three months of employment to prepare for your future. Currently, no company match is offered
  • Parental Leave: Supportive parental leave with 16 weeks for primary caregivers and 4 weeks for secondary caregivers
  • Generous Vacation Policy: Accrue 20 vacation days per year, plus enjoy an additional flex holiday to celebrate whatever feels most important to you!
